The project also includes abandoning the existing Lewis Street underpass structure by backfilling and partial removal. Roadway improvements include the construction of 3,000 feet of two-lane urban street and intersection improvements at: 1st Avenue, Tacoma Street, and Main Avenue. Improvements include the construction of a 625 foot 4- span concrete overpass over the BNSF Railway yard and a 70-foot single span structure over 1 st Avenue. The Lewis Street Overpass project will join 2nd Avenue on the west to Oregon Ave on the east.
